Melasma Mask
Our in-office Melasma Mask requires specific post-care which will be discussed with you prior to you leaving the office. Below are the general instructions though yours may vary if needed.
First Day:
A solution was used to clean your face, then a very thin layer of Melasma Mask was applied to your full face or the affected area(s). You may have a slightly altered skin tone while the cream stays on. This mask will dry onto the face.
Wash your face with a mild soap and water specifically at the designated time you were given. It is very important that the mask stay on until this point so that you get the appropriate reaction time.
Your skin may appear pink or even lightly swollen after removing the mask. You can rinse your skin with cool water and apply the Hydrocortizone 2.5% you were given to any areas or the full face to help with this.
Second Day through the End of the Second Week:
This step is to be completed prior to bedtime. It’s best to do this daily, but can be done every other day if your skin is too pink or sensitive.
Peeling is probable. Make-up can still be used daily. Applying sunscreen daily is necessary!
Nightly, wash your face with a mild soap then apply a thin layer of Melasma Emulsion Plus to the full face or the affected area(s). DO NOT WASH OFF. You may notice a slight peeling or flaking of the skin as the days progress and you continue to use this product.
A light moisturizer can be applied anytime additionally throughout the day if your skin is dry. Make sure to dampen the skin just a bit before applying moisturizer as this helps all skincare products actually be absorbed and work.
No other aggressive exfoliants, glycolics, or skin drying agents should be used during this process. If you have questions about your products, please reach out to the office.
End:
You need to have a follow-up appointment in approximately 2-4 weeks.
